Introduction to Expat Ease

We, Hannele and Gail, are excited to welcome you to Expat Ease!

Our business has been a long time in the making. Conversations during the past year have brought us to this place today and over the last few months we have been working hard to put the pieces together in order to support you!

Hannele has been in the midst of the expat community in Ethiopia for years and started Ease in 2017 as a way to provide assistance to the expat community in Addis Ababa. Community events for women, crisis debriefing, and consultations for expat women kept Hannele busy until things came to a halt with the Covid-19 pandemic, but her vision never died.

Gail has been assisting adoptive families and volunteers with navigating Ethiopian culture since the early 2000s and has spent 20 years involved in paperwork processes related to visas and living in Ethiopia. Gail has coached expat women about life in Ethiopia and she has coordinated many tours, events, and retreats.

As a team, we have been friends since 2009 when our daughters were best friends in Kindergarten. We have worked together for several years on different aspects of Human Resources Management, have participated in other projects and events together, and we regularly reflect on our own Third Culture Kid (TCK) upbringings, the ups and downs of expat life, and supporting our children on their TCK and Cross-Cultural Kid (CCK) experiences.

At Expat Ease, our easily accessible services for expats allow us to bring our experiences and expertise to support other expats through the journey of change and transitions. We look forward to working with you!
